Polk County 24-Hour Release Source
Polk County does not publish a separate 24-hour feed. The Sheriff's official Released roster is a rolling view of people released during the last 48 hours. It is still the best public starting point for the question, “Who was released from the Polk County Jail today?” The user must apply the shorter time limit. Each card's Release Date and time can be compared with the current local time, and only records no more than 24 hours old should be kept.
The roster is tied to a booking episode. A displayed release time confirms that the Sheriff's Office closed that Polk County Jail booking. It does not, by itself, show whether the person went home, entered Missouri Department of Corrections custody, moved to another jail, or left under another agency's hold. The public list also does not promise a refresh schedule. A person processed moments ago may appear after a delay.
Check Polk County Releases Today
The official 48-hour source can produce an accurate same-day subset when its timestamps are read carefully. Use the time shown on the record, not the order of search-engine results or the date on an unrelated press item. Polk County offers first- or last-name search, a Show All option, and date sorting. Show All is useful when the goal is to scan the whole recent group rather than find one named person.
- Open the Sheriff's Released roster and confirm that “Released” is selected instead of “Current.”
- Choose newest-to-oldest order, or use Show All to review each recent Polk County release card.

Polk's release source occupies a distinctive middle window. It contains more than a 24-hour list but less than a three-day archive. Calling it a “24-hour feed” would misstate the Sheriff's published design. The sound method is to call it the official 48-hour Released view and then filter its release timestamps to answer the narrower query.
Online display time is not the same as record retention. The Sheriff's site does not publish a retention schedule for the underlying release-control record. When a card rolls off the public page, that change means only that it passed beyond the intended web window. It does not establish that the booking record, photo, or release data was erased. A later request can seek the releasable booking and disposition fields from the custodian.

Mobile Polk County Release Checks
The Sheriff launched a responsive roster designed for phones and tablets. No confirmed standalone Polk County, Missouri sheriff app was found. Mobile users reach the same official Released URL, see the same booking photographs and timestamps, and still need to compare the posted time with the start of their 24-hour period.
This distinction also prevents notification errors. MobilePatrol and Missouri Sheriff Connect are not Missouri's victim-notification system. Prospective custody alerts belong through the current MOVANS portal, while the responsive sheriff roster supplies the direct Polk County booking and release timestamp. One is a notification channel; the other is the county's public release record view.

Polk County Release News Archive
The Sheriff's dated press-release archive works as a local jail-news stream. Frequent “Jail bookings and reports” entries and occasional “booked and released” language may corroborate a brief custody event. A dated post can remain available after a record leaves the 48-hour roster, which makes the archive useful for later context.
It is not a standardized release list. Coverage may omit an event, and a news narrative may lack a release timestamp, booking number, destination, or release authority. Use an archive entry as a lead. Pair it with the Polk County release card while available, the related court docket, or a custodian response. The press archive should never be used to assume that all people released on a given day appear in its posts.
Polk County Release or Transfer
“Released” is specific to the custodian. A person listed in Polk County's Released view has left that county-jail booking, while someone on the Current roster remains in the Sheriff's custody for that record. Disappearance from Current alone is weaker evidence because it may reflect transfer, a system change, or a handoff.

A transfer closes Polk custody but is not a return to the community. Likewise, the Missouri Department of Corrections active search includes prisoners, probationers, and parolees, but it excludes fully discharged people. Each system answers a different question.
Confirm an Older Polk Release
When a needed Polk County release has aged off the rolling view, contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 417-777-9020 or send a narrow Sunshine request. Ask for the releasable booking and release/disposition record for the full name and approximate booking date. Include the booking number when known, plus the release date and time, releasing authority, release type or reason, destination, and any releasable booking photograph. Request an electronic copy, redaction instead of wholesale denial, and a cost estimate above a chosen limit.
Missouri Case.net can show a Polk criminal case's docket, disposition, bond, judgment, sentence, warrant, and probation entries after the jail card disappears. A court order may explain legal authority, but it does not prove the exact time jail staff completed the physical release. For state custody, use the MODOC active search when the person may still be incarcerated or supervised. MOVANS is best used before an expected change by registering for a specific person's alert.
The Sheriff's contact page lists a 24-hour phone line and weekday administrative hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Missouri's custodian statute requires a response by the end of the third business day or a detailed explanation of delay. That deadline is for the response, not a promise that every record will be produced within three days.
